Just in time for the spooky season, Vampire Boogie, the new single from Nashville-based Kiwi songwriter Simon Stanley, is a Halloween-hop about a misunderstood vampire who just wants to get down.
Three-time New Zealand Music Award-winner Stanley’s vivid storytelling paints an amusing picture of a charismatic Transylvanian character with a passion for dance, cooped up after midnight with only bats in the attic to keep him company.
Following on from the acclaim of his single Marley Sitting on a Pumpkin Seed (winner of the 2019 NZ Music Award for Best Children’s Song), and the song / book Floating Down the River, Stanley’s new quirky, jazzy bop is the perfect song for every young wizard or ghoul ready to dance the Halloween night away.
Originally from New Zealand and now based in Nashville, TN, Simon combines a background as an acclaimed songwriter for the two-time Tui Award-winning folk duo Tattletale Saints with extensive experience working alongside multiple GRAMMY-nominated Nashville songwriters, and a deep love for the quirky world of kid’s music.
“I love how colorful you can be with kid’s music,” Simon says. “It’s like you can use all the paints in the palette and not have to worry about looking silly!”
His unique blend of influences converge on Simon’s new song, Vampire Boogie, to create a jam sure to have both parents and their little witches and ghosts dancing with delight this Halloween.
